Eight Weeks Three Days!!!

Okay, so if you didn't already know, I am the most impatient person that you will ever meet!!!! I am 8wks 3 days as of right now and it seems like the next 31-32 weeks are going to take forever to get here. Don't get me wrong, I'm enjoying experiencing the whole pregnancy thing (probably because I'm still symptom-less) but I can't believe I have to wait until September. I am one of those people who doesn't want to wait for anything, but in this instance I have no control, and frankly I don't know how I feel about it. I know I shouldn't rush things because in the end all that I really want is a healthy, happy baby but knowing that and saying that really doesn't do much to increase the amount of patience that I have. I guess I'll be slightly more content when we find out the gender of the baby because then I can start buying stuff, and honestly nothing makes me more happy and content than shopping!

On a different note I thought I'd share some completely random information with you, so enjoy. The only cravings that I have really had have been for fruit and green beans mostly although broccoli is really yummy right now too (well yummier than normally). I've always enjoyed sleeping but I think I enjoy it even more so now than before. Cigarette smoke is even more appalling than before, in fact when I smell it that is about the only time I feel nauseas. I have a heightened since of smell and the guy who sits next to me in one of my classes has horrible breath. I really can't wait until I have a really big belly because I wanna laugh at Brandon having to cut my toe nails, just the thought of it makes me laugh. Although, I will inform him that if he doesn't want to do it, he doesn't have to...I'll just go pay $30 for a pedicure every time I need one...I think that will convince him. B is so cute, whenever I don't want to eat or he doesn't feel like I've eaten enough he'll say, "But what about the baby?" He also always says goodnight to the baby before going to sleep each night. We have a name picked out for a girl and half of a name for a boy. For a girl, her name will be I. J. Fox for a boy it'll be Elian _______ Fox, (we can't agree on a middle name) all that we can really agree on is that we want it to be a Hispanic name. In fact I think I'll add a new poll to the site for you all to vote on, I'll include the middle names that I like and see which of those you all like the best. I think I'll do that now, so let us know what you think! Oh and if you have any suggestions feel free to leave them in the comment section, but chances are if it's not a Hispanic name, we probably won't use it. Although the name Andreas isn't Hispanic, it's more European, so who knows...just take the poll and leave whatever suggestions you have. 143

2008 Auto Show

I (B) finally have time to write my first blog. We had a very busy week, but it ended with a lot of fun. I finished my first week of working monday - friday (like a normal person) as I am training for my upcoming promotion of an IT Development QA Analyst. I will be spending a few hours each day doing my new job and then the rest of the time doing my current job of IT Help Desk until my company can hire a replacement to take over my current position. U had a busy week as well as she had school and had to run a few errands including her ultrasound appointment. Today her pregnancy is at exactly 8 weeks and I can't wait to find out the gender of our baby in another 2 months. Yesterday we went to a Detroit tradition (The 2008 North American International Auto Show).

Of course I was in heaven since cars are one of my passions, and there is no better place to see the best cars in the world than right here in the Motor City. U didn't mind it, but she got really tired after a few hours. I made up for it though as we treated ourselves to our favorite restaurant (Pizza Papalis) in Detroit's Greektown District. The Most Beautiful Bean In The World!

Okay, so I am sure that all of you guys are just sitting on the edge of your seats waiting to see the picture (ultrasound) of our little bean, but unfortunately you'll have to sit on the edge of those seats a little longer. I (U) did go to the doctor today (B couldn't go due to work) and I did have the wonderful opportunity to see our little blessing. However, the doctor neglected to hit the save button to take a picture of the image, so sadly there is no picture as of yet. But I still thought that I would share some of my thoughts/feelings on getting to see our baby for the first time.

First I must say that it was a huge relief to see the baby there on the screen, especially since I still haven't truly had any pregnancy symptoms yet. I cannot tell you how many times I have doubted that I am pregnant simply because I didn't feel like I had any proof. I felt that at least if I had morning sickness, nausea, headaches, or any number of the other symptoms then at least I would feel like that were some confirmation for me. Well, so far I've had none of those methods of confirmation, but in watching that baby floating there today I got all the confirmation that I could ever want. My excitement is renewed and honestly as I watched it today I was in awe. I am a mommy, even if I can't hold my baby yet, I am a mommy because I can love him/her just the same. My heart is really overwhelmed right now from this amazing experience and aside from the day I married B I have never felt so blessed.

We have been given an official due date (well as "official as a due date can get) and it is September 7, 2008. After doing the ultrasound the doctor realized that my due date was closer to correct and the nurses due day was way off, maybe next time she'll pay attention when I tell her how many days my cycle is! The nurse said Sept. 2, I said Sept. 6 and the Dr. and ultrasound say Sept. 7, so I'm comfortable going with that. The baby is measuring 12mm and I am 7 weeks 3 days along. He/She seems to be doing well and I must say he/she is the most adorable bean that ever was or will be. We will call it our North American (U.S./Mexican/Canadian) Jumping Bean! Well I must get going, I have a busy day/night/tomorrow ahead of me and I need to get some work done and if you can't already tell I'm flying high right now and that's the best time to get things done! So I'll talk with you all later!

The Baby's First Basketball Game.

On Tuesday, at just 7 weeks gestation, our baby went to the first NBA Game of it's life. I'm pretty sure s/he enjoyed her/his self.

We went to watch the Pistons play the Toronto Raptors. We were expecting it to be a blowout and well...we weren't disappointed. After the game B always listens to sports talk radio on the way home and the announcer mentioned that the record between Detroit and Toronto is something like 26-6. So yeah, like I said we weren't suprised by the blowout, the final score ended up being 103-89.

It was the first game we had been to this season, so as you can imagine B was extremely excited, but then again he's excited to go to any sporting event. As for U, she had already had an extremely long day so she was pretty tired by the time the game started. It is extremely hard for her to pay attention at games, especially when there is a huge point spread anyway. So she went about her normal people-watching activities, although she was slightly disappointed in the lack of interesting people at this particular game. So she also spent some of her time taking a picture or two Like the one you see to the right. She also actually got a pretty good one of Tayshaun Prince shooting a pretty nice layup. We also got a decent video of the pre-game introductions with all the pyrotechnics and exciting stuff like that. Take a look at it below.

Next week, Wednesday, we go to have our very first ultrasound so stay tuned for the pictures!!!! Also we'll be going to the North American International Auto Show so watch out for some pictures of that as well. See ya later!

The First Appointment...

Well, our first appointment is done!! Today we met with the nurse and answered a million questions about our health history and family health history. The nurse seemed pretty surprised by how healthy we've been. No diseases, no accidents, no injuries, no broken bones, no nothin'! So after answering all the questions, U had to give a urine sample as well as allow the nurses to take some of her blood. The nurse agitated her more than a little by not being able to find her veins and then continuing to move the needle around below her skin in an attempt to find it. It didn't help that she had to do this with BOTH arms. So it was a relatively uneventful visit, we now have a lot of reading to do. They gave us lots of books and pamphlets and papers to read and make tons of decisions about, but we're looking forward to it! We can't wait until next week when we have the first ultrasound...stay tuned!

What's New? Not Much!

Well, let's see...There really haven't been any changes or updates since the last post, but we felt like we were neglecting our blog so we figured we'd write something. U still isn't having any symptoms and honestly if she hadn't of found out that she were pregnant while at the hospital she probably wouldn't believe it anymore. She does stress over the lack of symptoms, so we're both extremely relieved that her first doctor's appointment is on Monday. The thought of shopping for maternity clothes has her really excited, but then again shopping always gets her excited. As for B, he's up for a promotion at his job which we're pretty excited about. He'll no longer have to work weekends and holidays - I think this has U happier about the position than the raise in salary does. He'll be working as a software tester which should be a little less stressful than his current position in that he'll have to deal with much fewer people which is a really good thing because if you didn't already know - B hates dealing with people! Well, I guess that's all the updates for today but please return next week for another episode of, "The Days of Our Pregnancy." A Great Way to Start the New Year!

About a week ago, after visiting the blog of a friend, I decided that when we got pregnant that I was going start a blog so that our friends and family would be able to have updates on us and our baby. Well, little did I know that just a few days later we would discover that we were already pregnant. Our goal is to keep you updated about some of the general goings on in our day-to-day life. U is extremely excited, even at the threat of the onset of morning sickness, fatigue, and all the other uncontrollable 'side effects' of pregnancy. She spends a lot of time talking to the baby even though it's probably the size of a pen dot and she already refers to it as a 'she', I guess she knows something the rest of use don't. B is his usual happy self, though that will probably change with all the cravings and the mood swings, but hopefully that is at least a couple more months away, either way he was born to be a dad, he's absolutely wonderful with children. So I guess this is the start of a new and wonderful journey for us...wish us luck!

How We Discovered We Were Pregnant.

On New Year's Eve, around 10pm, U developed a severe cough. She wasn't really concerned about it because, well, it was just a cough. It continued into New Year's Day so she remained in bed all day. She still wasn't really concerned although the cough had gotten a little worse. By Wednesday she was feeling much worse, she took her temperature to find that she did have a slight temperature of 99.5. She remained in bed all day not taking any antibiotics because she realized she was already 6 days late for her period. U laid down for a nap and woke up as B arrived home for work, they took her temperature again and it was 101.1. We discussed whether we would go to the ER or just wait it out, after U's temperature increased to 101.8 half an hour later, we made our decision. We waited in the ER waiting room for 3.5-4.0 hours before finally being taken back to a room. Once in the room we saw several different doctors and nurses, they decided that U had a viral infection and they wanted to give her a chest x-ray. However, U, knowing she was 6 days late, requested a pregnancy test first because she didn't wanna take any chances. Well, the results came back positive and needless to say they cancelled the X-ray. It's now Saturday and U is slowly getting better, her fever has subsided and the cough is only occasional now. Her first doctor appointments are scheduled for January 14th and the 23rd when she will have her first ultrasound. We can't wait!
